CTO Talk: Building Hybrid Search at Rockset

July 25th, 8am PT

Rockset releases a new version of its Converged Index designed for hybrid search at scale. Rockset’s Converged Index provides engineers the flexibility to index any data, including vectors, text, document, geo and time series data, and apply ranking and scoring using SQL.

All vector search is becoming hybrid search as it drives the most relevant, real-time application experiences. Hybrid search involves incorporating text search and similarity search as well as metadata filtering, all in a single query.

In this talk, Cofounder and CTO Dhruba Borthakur and Senior Product Manager John Solitario go under the hood of Rockset and discuss enhancements to its Converged Index including:

  • Designing for multi-tenant search
  • Moving from posting lists to compressed bitmaps
  • Introducing covering indexes to search index design
  • Adding the BM25 text search ranking algorithm
